Spring Cleaning Your Bedroom – For The Tired, Busy and Over It

Welcome to the third installment of our spring cleaning series! This week, we’re heading into one of the most important and personal spaces in your home: the bedroom. A clean, calming bedroom can make a big difference in how well you sleep, how you start your day, and how you feel overall. Whether your room is a peaceful retreat or currently a disaster zone, we’re going to walk through it one day at a time to bring it back to life.

Let’s dive into spring cleaning your bedroom with simple, focused tasks that can make a huge difference without feeling overwhelming.

Monday: Change Bed Linens and Vacuum the Mattress

Start the week with one of the most satisfying tasks. Strip the bed completely and wash all the linens. Sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, and even throw blankets. While the laundry runs, vacuum the mattress to remove dust, skin cells, and allergens. If you have the time (and weather), this is a great day to let the mattress air out for a few hours. Flip or rotate it if needed. Fresh linens on a clean mattress instantly upgrade the whole room.

Tuesday: Dust and Clean Out Nightstands

Your nightstand probably collects more than just books and phone chargers. Empty it out completely and give the inside a good wipe down. Toss or relocate anything that doesn’t need to live there. Then dust the surface, paying attention to lamps, alarm clocks, and any décor items. Keeping the bedside clutter-free helps set the tone for better sleep and less chaos.

Wednesday: Declutter the Closet

This is the big one. Pull everything out of the closet and sort it into piles: keep, donate, toss, and seasonal storage. Be honest with yourself about what you actually wear. If it doesn’t fit, if it’s damaged, or if you haven’t touched it in over a year, it may be time to let it go. Wipe down shelves, vacuum or sweep the floor, and then only put back what belongs. Pro tip: group items by type or color for a cleaner, more streamlined look.

Thursday: Wipe Window Sills, Walls and Baseboards

Today’s focus is all about the surfaces that tend to collect dust and scuffs over time. Start with the window sills, then grab a damp cloth or sponge and gently wipe down the walls especially near light switches, corners, and anywhere little hands may have left their mark. Finish with the baseboards, which often hide more dust than you’d expect. These finishing touches make the whole room feel brighter and more cared for.

Friday: Clean Under the Bed

Out of sight doesn’t mean out of mind, especially when it comes to spring cleaning your bedroom. Pull out everything from under the bed. Vacuum or sweep thoroughly. If you’re using under-bed storage, this is a great chance to reorganize and label containers. If you’re finding a lot of forgotten clutter, consider whether those items deserve a permanent spot in your home.

Saturday: Vacuum or Sweep/Mop Floors

Now that everything is clean and clear, finish the week by tackling the floors. Vacuum carpets or sweep and mop hardwood or laminate. Be sure to get into corners and along edges. If you have rugs, take them outside for a good shake or use a rug-safe cleaner for spot treatment.

Sunday: Rest

You’ve earned it. Resting is just as important as working. Take time to enjoy your refreshed space. Light a candle. Read in bed. Let your bedroom be a place that restores you mentally and physically.

Final Thoughts

Spring cleaning your bedroom is about more than appearances. It’s about creating a space that feels restful, intentional, and peaceful. By spreading out the work over the week, you make real progress without the burnout. Whether you’re doing this solo or turning it into a family routine, the goal is progress, not perfection.

Next time we’ll be tackling the living room, so rest up and get ready!
